Henry – The Sweetest Cavalier Spaniel

Lin October 29th, 2009

I have been so excited to put up a blog post of a photoshoot I did with the sweetest Cavalier Spaniel I’ve met.  His name is Henry. I met Henry not too long ago and we immediately became friends.  He has a puppy face, adorable personality, and a loving charm.  I would like to thank both of Henry’s parents for giving me a chance to spend time with Henry and family.

And now on to the photos!

Doesn’t his face make your heart melt?

He’s being a little defiant to mom’s stay command.

Love the sunstar in this photo. Henry does too.

Big yawn.

Henry is so cute when he fetches!

I love this photo. He’s so cute with that ball in his mouth.

Pooped after a playful photoshoot session.

One last one!

Squeegee

Lin October 10th, 2009

Squeegee is one of those beagles that you know is happy.  He’s a different kind of beagle, without the usual white brown and black splotches, which made him stand out when his mom went to adopt him. Squeegee and Squeegee’s mom, thank you for letting me spend a few hours hanging out with both of you. You both rock!

Cayenne and Rainey

Lin September 20th, 2009

Cayenne and Rainey are beautiful!  These lucky brothers have adorable personalities and awesome parents.

I love this photo below.  The sun was setting and casting a beautiful glow on everything.   The tall grasses make this image just awesome.

There is a tunnel that I thought would make an interesting backdrop.

I love this photo of Rainey. He looks so happy!

Beautiful, fluffy feet.

Black and White

Lin August 20th, 2009

I love black and white photos. Sometimes they just add so much more character to a photograph than if it were in black and white. Here are a few that I like:

Doggy Bag

Lin August 17th, 2009

I know I have been so bad about updating my blog. To be honest, I have been so busy with life stuff that I have been negligent. I have a couple of dog shoots planned for September, but in the mean time, I had thought I would blog about a few of the dog products I keep in my Doggy Bag.

Doggy Bag: A shoulder bag specifically for my dog’s outing supplies.

Having everything in one place makes it easy to just grab it and go when we want to go out for a day trip. Below are a couple of things tucked inside:

Got to have poop bags! I look for the biodegradable types specifically. I have a bag dispenser with my dog’s leash. It makes forgetting the poop bags nearly impossible. Just don’t forget to stock up on rolls so you have clean bags to refill your dispenser.

I love these JW Cuz dog toys. They come in a variety of shapes, sizes and vibrant colors. They are made of a tough rubber material, come with a squeaky, and are durable enough to bounce off the ground.

Don’t forget the water! They make very convenient water bottles for dogs now. I use a bottle called the Water Rover. The bottle can clip onto your belt, won’t spill, and my dog likes the round drinking dish. You pop the top of the bottle open, pour the water into the dish, and when she’s done, you just tip the bottle and the extra water goes back into the bottle.

In Need of a Few Good Pups

Lin August 11th, 2009

Wow, it has been a long time since I last updated my blog. I have been so busy with just life stuff that I haven’t had a chance to really concentrate on my pet photography.  I have been thinking about my business and what I would like to do with my branding and portfolio. I am currently thinking of creating new colors for my blog site and updating my portfolio.

I am looking for a few dog models who are well behaved, adorable (what dog isn’t?), and local to the Orange County area to update my online portfolio. I am specifically looking for large, medium, and small dogs of various breeds. If you are interested, please send me an email at info@linphotographer.com.

Roxy Girl

Lin June 21st, 2009

I first met Roxy in 2008. She was an adorable pitbull available for adoption from the Irvine Animal Care Center. She had been adopted and returned at least once, if my memory serves me correctly. All she needed was a little training and lots of love and she would prove to the world that she could be the sweetest and most adorable black pitbull you’ve ever seen. Faith, owner and trainer of Instant Karma Dog Training, had been working with Roxy for a while at the Irvine Animal Care Center. I spoke with Faith back in December at the Home for the Holidays event and knew Roxy was getting the training she deserved. Next thing then I know Faith sends me an email saying that Roxy had been adopted! And even better, she was adopted by Faith herself! I remember being so happy for Roxy as I knew she was going home to a loving family. She would find that happiness and be loved and cared for… Forever.

I honestly believe that every dog deserves a loving home. I believe that with the right training any dog, whether he is an adult with pre-existing behavioral problems or is a newly born puppy, can be trained to be the sweetest and most loving members of any family. Owning a dog isn’t just licks and laughs but a serious life long commitment. Stories like Roxy, where she has been given a second chance at happiness and a new life makes what I do the most meaningful. I love hearing about happy endings for animals I have worked with before. It truly makes what I do so enjoyable.

So here is a photo of Roxy when she was still a resident at the Irvine Animal Care Center.

Below are photos of Roxy with her new family, happy as can be. The difference in her is astounding. Roxy just makes me want to hug and kiss her. She’s so sweet and so well behaved now. I love her!

Roxy, tired from being so cute and posing for the camera.

I love Roxy’s profile. Her ears, her head, and her snout are so cute! I just want to give her a big kiss on the cheek.

Big yawn for Roxy.

Looking happily at her mom.

“Mom, can I have a treat now? I am laying down now like you told me to!”

Thank you Roxy for being so awesome, and thank you Faith for giving me the pleasure of spending time with Roxy girl.

Buster Brown and Ruby

Lin June 17th, 2009

This past weekend I had an awesome time attending a pet photography workshop taught by the ever so fabulous Jamie Pflughoeft from Cowbelly. I had an amazing time learning from her, making new friends, and photographing the most adorable dogs, Buster Brown and Ruby. The workshop was held in beautiful Santa Monica at the Viceroy hotel for three wonderful days. Not only is the hotel about a 5 minute walk from the beach, but also chic and swanky. Trying to get dinner and drinks on a Friday night at the hotel’s restaurant and bar was nearly impossible! The place was full of people who were probably locals.

A view from the Santa Monica pier.  The beach was packed with vacationers and locals enjoying the good weather.

Buster Brown, an adorable Basset Hound and Blood Hound mix, was gracious to model for us. He was totally loving the attention everyone was giving him during the photo shoot: treats, tummy rubs, and ear scratches! This shoot was done during high sun, which isn’t the most ideal lighting.

Buster taking a break from modeling and enjoying the sights and smells of Santa Monica.

I love his paws!

Buster’s fur is a beautiful rust color and so shiny!

Ruby, a beautiful Grey Hound, had the softest fur I had ever felt. Her fur felt like a puppy’s fur. I couldn’t stop petting her.

Ruby’s mama and papa bought her such a cute pink collar with matching tags!

I would like to thank Jamie for hosting such a fun and highly educational workshop. I really felt as though I learned a great deal, enjoyed my time and the company, and just was really inspired. Jamie, you are such an inspiration!
